She found herself going through a special experience to this day, she has never forgotten. “I had never felt so good and at peace with myself. Why do I feel this way? “ she asked. She has been fascinated by Yoga ever since.
As a young teenager, she became more and more curious about Yoga after reading “Sport et Yoga” by Selvarajan Yesudian & Elisabeth Haich which inspired her to practice on her own.
In the mid to late 1990s, she took on Yoga even more seriously after losing her balance and a lot of her coordination due to a series of ear surgeries. With Yoga she quickly regained her balance.Once again attracted by the healing aspects of Yoga, she pursues her studies leading her to a more profound personal practice.
Soraya has studied with various teachers. Among them Santiago Dobles with whom she studied Qi Qong, Energy Yoga and earned her first certification. She took her advance teacher training and certification in Sampoorna Yoga with Sri Yogi Hari.
In 2005, Soraya begins her studies with Yogarupa Rod Stryker, founder of Para YogaTM from Himalayan-Tantric lineage where she became a senior student, completed his master teacher program, and now working towards certification.
Soraya attended many seminars with various teachers, among them: David Keil, Doug Swanson, Dr. Pandit Rajmani Tigunait spiritual head of the Himalayan Institute, and the late Dr. Glenn Morris. With Paul Check, she studied Holistic Nutrition and lifestyle.
Soraya owns and operates So-Yoga in West Kendall. She believes in the constant improvement in all aspects and she strives to become a more devoted Yoga practitioner and the best teacher that she can possibly be. She continues to educate herself in order to provide the utmost possible care, knowledge and safety to her students guiding them toward optimum health, happiness and a peaceful mind through Yoga and Meditation. She also encourages her students to follow a Yogic and an Ayurvedic lifestyle.
Soraya also started ballroom dancing with her aunt and uncle who were World Champion of Ballroom in 1974. She still dances and performs today. Her love of dance led her to become a Certified Mat and Reformer Pilates Instructor.
